Auckland Domain

Auckland Domain is the first public park in New Zealand and now considered to be one of the biggest in the country. It is set in a 75 hectares land surrounding the core of an already extinct volcano. Now the park is home to exciting facilities for the family like ponds, gardens, and sports fields.

“A lovely place to explore on a lazy weekend. The winter garden glasshouses and courtyard are a particular highlight, with their fascinating pitcher plants and mimosas. Definitely check those out if you visit. We also enjoyed the museum – free for Auckland residents, a donation from other kiwis, sand an entry fee for tourists. The natural history area is particularly good.” –Adam Thomas

“Awesome place to take the kids to learn enjoy the sea life creatures. Overall experience was good. Just one thing. My family would have loved to eat lunch there and stayed longer but had no choice and leave because they were hungry as the only option was pies. where was the hot chips, the wedges, burgers, nuggets or fried chicken. This is not a negative review but a slight improvement suggestion. To all staff thank you and keep up the great work.” –Christian Quizon

“A wonderful experience. They have planned the layout really well, it’s roughly 5 sections and should take you a comfortable 2 hrs to complete. It’s roughly 3.5 km of walk, fairly straightforward flat road. If you prefer stopping and enjoying certain few animals or birds then account for at least 3 hrs. I am assuming you will stop for a quick bite in the middle too, they have 3 restaurants in there, the elephant restaurant is definitely worth trying.” –Vinay Shriyan
