I spent yesterday at our Parnell store with our passionate team member, Suragni. We moved things around and created new displays, and the store looks even more beautiful now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s always lovely meeting new customers and reconnecting with those I haven’t seen for a while.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I met a lovely lady from Dunedin who was up in Auckland because her granddaughter was at Starship. Another couple were in for their regular supply of Honeydew. I sold some Ginger Bee Intense to one lady who just loved it!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I wrapped a few gifts for another customer, who complemented us on our beautiful store and unique products. I do love retail, but it has become a lot more challenging since COVID.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Without international tourism and limited domestic tourism, Parnell store only has their local market. With a lot of corporate staff now only working four days a week, Friday is now the quietest day of the week here, James told me, our friendly Parnell security guy. It’s severely impacted hospitality, he continued, not to mention retail.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Needless to say, Parnell has a lot of challenges but what will get business through these tough times are landlords and tenants working together and locals actively supporting their local businesses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Parnell is a wonderful community and it is great to see people are starting to work together to ride through these challenging times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like the bee, when we work together as a community, we create something truly beautiful.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't forget to support your local businesses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It really does make all the difference!
