Commonsense Mt Eden was owned by Marion Wood and Jim Kebbell who first bought a parcel of land in Te Horo. This piece of land was named Common Property where the two decided to grow their vegetables. With the help of their loving family, they have decided to push with the plan with the additional request of Marion’s mother that the land is farmed organically. On November 7, 1991, Commonsense Organics was opened to the Auckland public and has since enjoyed the support of the community.

Cassels & Sons Brewing’s success was a result of the owner’s family’s hard work and passion for whole grain brewing. The idea of whole-grain brewing was discovered by the family in the 1980s and it then went to several tasting sessions and researches before it was finally offered to the Christchurch public in September 2009. Their equipment and elements used in brewing were all by them including a wood-fired kettle.
