Brenton Clark obtained his science degree in 1989 from Auckland University and in 1992 received his Optometry degree. He started his professional experience in Queensland and Nelson with temporary positions in New Zealand and Australia. In 1997 he returned to New Zealand and permanently settled in Tauranga. He enrolled in a graduate program at the University of New South Wales and he received a graduate certificate in 2007. His interests are helping Tauranga residents especially in child vision, and behavioural optometry.
