Makara Beach Walkway

Makara Beach Walkway can be accessed from the Mākara Beach after a 16km ride to the northern Wellington area. Before you head to the hiking area, it is recommended that you bring enough food and drink. The area is also exposed to southerly winds, gale-force winds and northerlies. Once you start the hike, you would be greeted with a panoramic view of farmlands and a beach. High cliffs are present as well which requires extra caution from the hikers. Its dual-use track covers the north and south area together with the ridge at the middle of Old Coach Road in Johnsonville and Makara Saddle in Karori. To reach the top, you would pass the Outer Green Bell, the Crow’s Nest, Kilmister Tops and Johnson Hill. During the hike, be prepared to witness splendid rural, coastal and city sceneries.

Trelissick Park

Trelissick Park is strategically located in Ngaio Gorge, Ngaio in Wellington. The park has a lovely combination of a stream, hills, and local bushes. Its trail starts at the bottom of Ngaio Gorge Road and can also be accessed from the Trelissick Crescent and Kaiwharawhara Road. the northern walkway extends from the Waikowhai Street to Hanover Street which passes to the valley side granting spectacular views of the stream and forest. Inside Limited was the product of a collaborative project of Paul de Lisle and Neville Parker in 1999.
