Bell, Lamb & Trotter Funeral Directors opened for business in 1872. It was a memorable event just 32 years after the Treaty of Waitangi was signed. The founder James Lab worked with his entire Lamb clan to manage the business. They were soon named as one of the biggest funeral directing companies in Christchurch that later on expanded to the entire Canterbury region.
