Fat Freddy’s Drop is a seven-man band based in the capital city of New Zealand. The group specializes in soul, dub, reggae, jazz, techno, rock, house, post-punk, and rhythm and blues. Its current members include Joe Dukie, Chopper Reeds, Tony Chang, Kuki Blaze, Hopepa and Jetlag Johnson. Joe goes by the stage name Dallas Tamaira and is in charge of the vocals, Chopper is known as Scott Towers in charge of the saxophone, Tony is Toby Laing on stage taking charge of the trumpet, Kuki is Iain Gordon while performing taking over the keyboard melodies, Hopepa or Joe Lindsay is in charge of the trombone and Jetlag is called Tehimana Kerr by fans and handles guitar melodies.

The Phoenix Foundation

The Phoenix Foundation was inspired by the member’s passion for music. Their first performance happened at their alma mater Wellington High School in 1994. The band’s concept was a collaborative effort of the founding members Luke Buda, Conrad Wedde and Samuel Flynn Scott. In 2001, the team welcomed Tim Hansen, Will Ricketts and Richie Singleton as a new addition to the group. Tim handles bass, Richie for drums and Will is in charge of the percussion. The band is based in Wellington, New Zealand and has the current lineup made up of Chris O’Connor, Samuel Flynn Scott, Luke Buda, Conrad Wedde, Will Ricketts and Tom Callwood.

Wellington Brass Band is a 28-person ensemble that specializes in British-style brass. Though based in the capital city of New Zealand, the group not only performs locally but has extensively showcased their artistry to Australian audiences too. They are at present considered the champion band of both countries. The band was established in 1905 going by the name Wellington Corporation Tramways Band. In 1960 they renamed the group into Onslaw Brass Brand before finally taking its current name in 1998. The band is composed of a musical director, soprano cornet, solo cornets, flugelhorn, horn, euphonium, trombone, bass, tuba and percussion team.

Shihad

Shihad was formally launched to the New Zealand audience in 1988. The Wellington-based rock band has the founders Jon Toogood, Tom Larkin and Phil Knight. In 1991 they were joined by Karl Kippenberger. Tom Larkin handles the drums, backing vocals and samplers, Jon Toogood is in charge of the lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Phil Knight is the lead guitar man, backing vocals and handles the synthesiser too and Karl Kippenberger contributes backing vocals and bass guitar melodies. Its past members were Geoff Duncan, Hamish Laing and Geoff Daniels.

TrinityRoots currently has the members Ben Wood, Rio Hemopo and Warren Maxwell. Its former members include Riki Gooch, Ned Ngatae, Darren Mathiassen, Jean Pompey, and Maaka McGregor. The 3-piece ensemble is based in the capital city of New Zealand. They specialize in reggae music but also traverses jazzy and soul-infused sounds. The band’s music features a glorious combination of drum and guitar sound complemented by the vocals. Their second album entitled Home, Land And Sea has percussion-dominated tracks that delight and inspires the listeners.
