His father’s patisserie in the Southwestern portion of France was a popular shop in the entire village. This inspired the establishment of La Tarterie in Auckland sometime in 1986. The local bakeshop is now known as Paneton Bakery and is known for its French-style baking. They have pastries, rolls and burger buns, loaves, pain au chocolat, pizza bases, croissants, and loaves baked fresh daily.

More expensive than your average bakery but you pay for the quality. Their chicken bacon sausage rolls are quite tasty! They operate from 7 am until 4 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7 am to 2 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and remain open from 8 am until 12 pm on Sundays. Their farmer’s bread is a lovely sourdough bread made from wheat and rye. The allgäuer bread is the most popular item on the menu while the sourdough wheel boasts 80% rye and 20% wheat content. Not to be missed too are their pretzel and frangepane with blueberries.
